Leukemia to silence the voice of Sathish Perera

Popular vocalist Sathish Perera passed away
Popular singer Sathish Perera passed away on 23rd April morning. He was 42. The funeral will take place at the General Cemetery Kanatte on 25th.

The Ananda College old boy, whose father was an award winning play back singer  entitled to 'Sarasavi' and 'Presidential Awards', Shelton Perera (who also died early at the age of 49), was also the brother of popular songstress Anuradha Perera.

Sathish Perera was a crowd puller at musical shows where he sang a mix of his father’s songs and his own creations. Among the hits were Awasan Liyumai Obata Liyanne, Maha Muhudu Wimane, Egodaha Yanno, Amba Damba Naran, Mihirethi Wasantha Kale, An Hematama Wada, Suwanda Rosa Mal, Kanduluwalin Pem Hasuna Liyannata, Adareta Hadu Dun Tharam and many other.
The remains of Satish Perera are lying at his residence at Kalalgoda in Thalawatugoda. The body is due to be brought to the National Art Gallery on 25th at 10 a.m. The funeral will take place at the General Cemetery Kanatte the same afternoon.

Sources close to the family stated that he had been ill for over a month and was in receipt of treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.

This article that winds amongst the memories of his time, is most likely to end up with a humble hope; "May his voice be granted to the nation, once again!"...
